TMC and NT1 choose FRANSAT package for switch to high definition
Paris, May 19, 2015 – TMC and NT1, the two TF1 group channels, are gaining enhanced image quality by offering their programmes in high definition, supplementing their standard definition offer. The first operator to carry the HD version of the channels is the FRANSAT satellite package on channels 10 and 11, making them immediately accessible across Metropolitan France.
As part of DTT’s transition to MPEG4 format set for April 2016, the FRANSAT package is already extending the resulting improved image quality to a growing number of channels in its freeview DTT satellite offering. TMC and NT1 are among ten DTT channels already broadcast free in HD via satellite by FRANSAT, along with TF1, France 2, Arte, M6 and the six new channels having made their DTT debut in December 2012: Chérie 25, HD1, L’Equipe 21, 6Ter, Numéro23 and RMC Découverte.
FRANSAT households equipped with an HD-compatible router (DVB S2 - MPEG4) can now enjoy superior viewing comfort for programmes on the TMC channel, focused on top-quality fiction, investigative magazines and light entertainment, and on NT1, where the spotlight is on documentaries and drama.
Households currently equipped with FRANSAT SD reception simply need to acquire a new HD-compatible router (DVB S2 - MPEG4) to receive the two channels with optimal viewing quality.
