TF1's 8 O'CLOCK NEWS PROGRAMME WINS
FIRST PRIZE IN THE MEDIA TENOR GLOBAL TV AWARDS

TF1's 8 o'clock news programme has won first prize in the 13th Media Tenor Global TV Awards presented in November.

The international prize rewards pluralism in news coverage, both in terms of the variety of topics and the representation of the people and social, economic and political players making today's news.

This is the second time since the creation of the prestigious award that a French media, TF1, has taken first prize.

For this year's award, Media Tenor analysed 144,821 reports from 23 news programmes in eight countries from July 2011 to June 2012.

Commenting, Catherine Nayl, Executive Vice-President, News and Information at the TF1 Group, said: "This prize acknowledges the work of an editorial team, rigorous, inventive and informative work, open to the world and at the service of TV viewers".

The Media Tenor agency, founded in 1993 and headquartered in Zurich, was the first research institute to focus purely on media analysis. The annual Media Tenor Global TV prize goes to the media analysed by Media Tenor demonstrating the greatest diversity in news coverage.
