The TF1 group and SACD (the French Society of Dramatic Authors and Composers) are pleased to announce that they have today signed a new agreement relating to the use of works from the SACD repertoire by the TF1 group’s linear and non-linear services. The agreement will take effect on 1 January 2021.

This new agreement springs from the realisation by the TF1 group and SACD of the need to work together on redefining and updating the terms of use of the SACD repertoire by the Group. It reflects the fact that the works in the repertoire (in particular French drama, movies and cartoons) are of strategic importance to the TF1 group in two key respects:

  • they form a substantial component of programming schedules on the Group’s channels, especially at peak viewing times, and also attract large audiences on its online platforms;
  • they contribute significantly to meeting the Group’s obligations on the broadcasting and production of audiovisual and cinematographic works.

The agreement aims to secure the use of works from the SACD repertoire on the Group’s services for the period from 2021 to 2023, while also ensuring that:

  • SACD author-members receive fair reward for their work;
  • new ways of consuming non-linear TV and digital content (mobile, catch-up, preview and VoD) are taken into account.

Through this agreement, the TF1 group is acknowledging the economic value of the SACD repertoire and demonstrating its ongoing commitment to the French creative industries.
