“Pièces Jaunes” campaign 2017: 4 January to 11 February
Great news for the 2017 campaign! The “Pièces Jaunes” initiative has a new sponsor, Little Nicholas, from the series of children’s books. This is the first time that the image of the celebrated schoolboy has been associated with a community initiative.
“Little Nicholas knows how lucky he is to be able go to school and play with his friends, so he decided to use his fame to help children in hospital and also their parents. He knows how important it is to have your mum with you when you’re sick. Mum or dad can help you feel a lot better!
As soon as he talked to us about it, Jean-Jacques Sempé and I thought that it was a great idea.
So this year, the smiling face of Little Nicholas will be present on all the piggy banks set out to receive your small change.
He’s delighted to be supporting this cause and really proud to be helping children who will soon be feeling well enough to play football, marbles or even with dolls!”

A six-week campaign to help children in hospital
Since 1989, the Foundation Hôpitaux de Paris-Hôpitaux de France has organised an annual “Pièces Jaunes” campaign. The aim is to raise funds for children and teenagers in hospital. Over 27 years, some €92 million has been raised, making it possible to finance more than 8,400 projects for children and teenagers in hospital.
How?
Some 2.3 million piggy banks will be available in post offices across France between 4 January and 11 February 2017. Over this period, children and everybody else are encouraged to raise funds for children in hospital. You can also make a donation via the platform on piecesjaunes.fr or send a cheque made out to Pièces Jaunes, to 13 rue Scipion, 75005 Paris.
Why?
Donations make it possible to finance projects that improve the everyday lives of young patients in France’s public hospitals.
What are its aims?
Bring families together: provide family houses, parent-child rooms, family areas, etc.
Develop activities: put in place games rooms, sports facilities, equipment for hospital school centres, organise cooking workshops, organise outings and holidays by minibus.
Improve patient comfort and surroundings: decorate rooms and corridors, create reception areas, supply wheelchairs
Fight pain: provide patient-controlled analgesia pumps
Support adolescents in distress: create appropriate structures with specialist services for adolescents.
Transition from adolescence to adulthood: develop structures to support the transition and transfer of teenagers and young adults with rare or chronic conditions from the paediatric wards to the adult wards.
You can also make a donation online via the Pièces Jaunes website.
