THIERRY THUILLIER IS APPOINTED
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF NEWS FOR TF1 GROUP
Effective October 1, Thierry Thuillier has been appointed Executive Vice President [u1] of the News Division for the TF1 Group, succeeding Catherine Nayl.
Thierry Thuillier’s new responsibilities will be to define and implement TF1’s and LCI’s editorial policies for news on broadcast and digital media, with the objective of maintaining the leader position of the newscasts and current-affairs programmes, as well as to continue developing LCI and the digital offer.
In conjunction with the project team, he will also oversee the key restructuring plans that form “Info 2020.” This major transformation designed to achieve even greater editorial quality entails the evolution of the news offer on all media, as well as strengthened synergies with regard to production resources.
For TF1 Group Chairman and CEO Gilles Pelisson, “Thierry Thuillier’s experience as head of editorial at general-interest channels and in producing current-affairs programs are unique assets for guiding the development of our news offer and overseeing the necessary transformation. Since his arrival at LCI in 2016, Thierry achieved the far-reaching relaunch of that channel. I would like to thank Catherine Nayl for her truly outstanding contribution as head of the Group’s News Division for nearly eight years. In her work at TF1 for the past three decades, Catherine has led the Group’s editorial teams with professionalism and caring. I wish Thierry every success in his new role and I know I can count on the employees of the News Division for a smooth and successful new phase to ensure we continue to provide leading, impartial, top-quality news.”
Catherine Nayl: “Leading the News Division for the TF1 Group was an extraordinary adventure and I am delighted to have had the chance to work with the editorial teams of TF1, LCI, and LCI Digital in forging this powerful and ambitious News Division. I am particularly proud to have been part of the LCI renaissance on free DTT. May everyone find as much professional satisfaction and fulfilment as I have throughout these many years at TF1.”
Thierry Thuillier: “I thank Catherine Nayl for this year of wonderful collaboration in managing LCI. Today, I am very pleased to join the staff of the Group’s News Division, people who made the most of the springboard provided by the presidential coverage. I am convinced that, together, we will be able to meet the challenges that lie ahead in the coming years.”
Thierry Thuillier
Thierry, age 54 and the father of two children, graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Studies before joining TF1’s Foreign Policy Department in 1990, later moving to the Interior Policy Department.
Thierry joined France 2 News in 1994, where he was successively in charge of the International Department and the Investigation and Reporting Department, then served as Editor-in-Chief of the nightly 8 o’clock newscast. He became head of editorial at I>Télé and held that position from 2008 to 2010 before returning to France Télévisions as News Director, later becoming CEO of France 2. He was the force behind the rapprochement of the editorial staff of the public channels and initiated a new dynamic in the news programming.
Thierry joined the TF1 Group in August 2016 and was appointed CEO of LCI. Along with Catherine Nayl, he began the revamping of La Chaîne Info, improving its program schedule and digital offer and restructuring the news and editorial staff. In 2017, LCI became France’s second-ranked news channel.
