Tarak Ben Ammar and TF1 acquire two Italian terrestrial networks

The European Commission allowed today News Corporation to sell the Italian analog terrestrial networks Europa TV and Prima TV – held so far by Telepiu – to Tarak Ben Ammar partnering with TF1 (respectively 51 % and 49 %).

The company acquiring the two networks plans to set up a free national channel with sports orientation (Europa TV network) ; It will also operate a digital terrestrial multiplex (Prima TV network) and broadcast one or more pay channels on that multiplex as soon as the market development allows it.

The transaction and the conditions for operating the two licenses remain subject to approval by the relevant Italian authorities.
