AUDIENCE FIGURES IN MAY 2012 : TF1 EXTENDS ITS LEAD
TF1 reported a 22.9% audience share in May, up 0.3 points* on April. It drew an average 6.5 million TV viewers in the evening and increased its prime-time audience by 200,000 viewers year on year. The same trend applied in the post prime-time slot, where TF1 has also gained 200,000 more viewers.
Strong on prime-time entertainment
The Voice confirmed its success with 7.7 million viewers for the final, with a 34% market share of 4 and overs, 44% of women under 50 purchasing-decision makers (PDM) and 45% of 15-34 year olds. Koh Lanta - la revanches des héros drew as many as 7.6 million viewers, with 9 million people tuning in to find out the winner (for the final: 35% share of 4 and overs, 43% of women under 50 PDM).
The launch of Secret Story obtained strong ratings with women and young adults, attracting 4.1 million viewers (20% of 4 and overs, 32% of women under 50 PDM and 49% of 15-24 year olds).
Success in prime-access game shows
The Les 12 coups de midi game show, celebrating its second birthday in June, attracted 3.5 million viewers in May for a 30% share. Money Drop drew as many as 5.1 million viewers and averaged 4.4 million (24% / 26%). Back on the air, Secret Story was watched by 2.3 million people. Audience share for the first week was 33% of women under 50 PDM and 36% of 15-34 year olds, an increase on last season.
Excellent football scores
The Champions League final scored the top audience figure by attracting 6.2 million TV viewers, for a 29% share of the audience and 42% of men between 15 and 49. Some 7.5 million viewers tuned in at the end of the match to see Chelsea take the title.
Surge in French football team audiences ahead of Euro 2012
Some 5.7 million viewers watched the France-Iceland match on 27 May, for a 26% share of the market and 42% of men between 15 and 49. The France-Serbia game brought together 6.4 million people, taking 26% of the 4-and-over demographic and 36% of men between 15 and 49. The last pre-Euro 2012 match against Estonia drew 6.7 million viewers, or 27% of 4 and overs and 42% of men between 15 and 49 - the highest ratings for a French-team friendly since France-Croatia in March 2011.
Strong news show audiences
The 8 o'clock news programme scored strong audiences in May, peaking at 8.7 million viewers, for a 33% share. The 1 o'clock news show is as strong as ever, with up to 7.8 million viewers, for a 42% share.
French drama ratings increase
Vive la colo, the new series with Virginie Hocq, Julien Boisselier and Titoff, scored the second-highest audience share with women under 50 PDM for a TV series this season (6.4 million / 24% / 27%).
Joséphine ange gardien obtained its highest audience share since April 2011 (6.8 million / 26% / 25%).
Section de recherches confirmed its success with a high of 7.6 million viewers and an average 6.4 million for the new season, taking a 26% share of the 4-and-over segment.
Also of note was the strong performance of the film The Proposal, with 8.2 million TV viewers.
