TF1 PARTNERS THE ALPE D’HUEZ FESTIVAL
- France’s leading comedy film festival -
As a leading partner of the French film industry, TF1 is supporting the 22nd annual Alpe d’Huez Comedy Film Festival in the French Alps, which opens on Tuesday 15 January and runs until Sunday 20 January. The jury will be chaired by Alexandra Lamy, alongside actors Rossy de Palma, Anne Marivin, Eric Elmosnino and Rayane Bensetti.
Two journalists from LCI will be the mistresses of ceremony. Hélène Mannarino, who presents Carte Blanche on La Chaine Info, will open the festival and will also host the proceedings on Wednesday evening. From Thursday, Pascale de la Tour du Pin, who presents La Matinale LCI, will take over as host for the remaining evenings, including the closing ceremony on Saturday 19 January.
Eight French films have been short-listed by the festival, which every year crowns the best comedies. Among the contenders there are a number of first films and the most recent feature film by Mohamed Hamidi, Jusqu’ici tout va bien, co-produced by TF1 Films Production, a subsidiary of the TF1 group.[1]
Synopsis: Fred Bartel is the charismatic boss of a hip Parisian advertising agency called Happy Few. After a difficult tax inspection, he is obliged by the authorities to relocate his business overnight to La Courneuve, a tough working-class suburb. There Fred and his team meet Samy, a local youngster who quickly takes it upon himself to teach them the rules and customs of this new environment. For the Happy Few team and the local population the resulting culture shock will be the start of an adventure as everyone learns to get along and lose their prejudices.
The TF1 group is delighted to be able to present this film as the festival opener, and very proud – as it is every year – to support the Festival de l'Alpe d'Huez, the first major cinema event of the year, a talent spotter and the only festival dedicated to comedy films. The partnership illustrates the Group’s ambition in the creative industries and in French cinema.
With between 15 and 20 films co-produced each year and more than 40 million euros invested annually in cinematographic production, the TF1 group is a major partner and top-class ally in showcasing French cinema. In 2018, TF1 took the top four slots in the national box office rankings for French films, with Les Tuche 3, Le Grand Bain, La Ch’tite Famille and Taxi 5.
