Virginie, Assistant project manager, new media at the VoD Product Development unit (TF1 Vidéo)

Master 2 at Télécom Ecole de Management, majoring in digital marketing

I have joined the VoD Product Development unit at TF1 Vidéo for a year as part of my Master 2 degree with a major in digital marketing. I’m interested in new media and connected objects, so I’m fortunate to be working in a “digital world” every day.

I design and optimise tablet interfaces (Android and iOS), websites, apps for connected TVs and Xbox 360. The aim is to improve the ergonomics of connected objects and make them more user-friendly – for example, by adding tabs or changing buttons.

As a user of new technologies – smartphones, tablets, TVs and so on – I put myself in the consumer’s shoes when designing and specifying app functions. I list all the improvements and modifications in a technical document known as a storyboard. Storyboards are sent first to the graphic designers, who create a prototype of the interface, which is integrated in the storyboard and sent on to the developers, who create and modify the interfaces of the apps. Once the app has been developed, I test it to make sure it complies with the storyboard.

I benefit from the know-how of professionals

Work-study programmes are a perfect learning format. I’m learning a lot of digital marketing technical skills and getting to put them to use at TF1. I also benefit from the know-how of the professionals around me, which is great for my professional development. In the future, I would like to stay in the digital sector and create my own start-up – in a field that never stops evolving.
